SORRY FOR THE DELAY...
We apologize for the lapse in newsletter production since the last issue. Although some blame can be placed on the winter weather, we have been busy developing and implementing numerous changes to enhance our operations. We hope these updates will in turn make your job a little easier as well. Keep reading to learn what's new and better at the Transfer Credit Center!
We've also changed our name. Since the "Wizards" is already taken...we decided on The Transfer Times!
THANKS, COURSE EVALUATORS!
We appreciate your efforts in helping us achieve nearly 85,000 lines of data (that's courses evaluated!) in TCEQ.
In our attempt to facilitate the evaluation of courses, we may occasionally misdirect course descriptions. Sometimes course titles are deceiving. If you come across a description sent to you in error, we apologize for the inconvenience. We are grateful for any suggestion directing us to the appropriate department; we will then avoid sending you this type of course description in the future.
When we send course descriptions, we do not keep a copy. If you return the equivalency on a separate sheet, please indicate the specific course ID you are evaluating and the sending institution name. We prefer that you write the equivalency directly on the course description and return it to us. Feel free to copy the sheet for your files. We do keep copies of the evaluations once they are returned to us.
A NOTE TO ADVISORS...
With only two and a half staff members here at the Transfer Credit Center and a number of tasks to perform, we presently do not follow up on evaluation requests we send to departments (we work on the Honor System here, folks). If you have not heard from us about a request, give us a call and we will resubmit it. Of course you may wish to contact the department directly, but if you do, please send us the information and we will enter it into our database. (If you send us email requests, we will keep them active in our mailbox until they are resolved.)
NEW GRADUATE ASSISTANT JOINS TCC
The Transfer Credit Center has been extremely fortunate in its hire of JOUR graduate student Lyn Gadue as an evaluation facilitator. Lyn comes to us from The American University, where she acquired extensive experience working with international students. We are hoping to put her special skills in this arena to use as we begin to enter international credit later this year.
For now, she is largely responsible for layout and copy editing of this double issue of The Transfer Times. Lyn also contacts departments at sending institutions for syllabi and extended course descriptions when catalog information is not sufficient for transfer credit evaluation. Welcome, Lyn!
Upcoming Features...
2 for 1/1 for 2 courses on TCEQ
New standardization for Lab course coding on TCEQ
