The diagram below illustrates the math sequence at the University of Maryland. Your Placement level will move from left to right
the higher your score on the Placement Exam. If you are required to take one of the Non-credit Review courses below, be aware that the first 5 weeks cover the review material while the
last 10 weeks of the semester will cover the new collegiate-level material. With
successful completion of the 15 week combined course, you will earn credit for either
MATH110, 111, 113, or 115 depending on which track you selected.
| TRACK | Non-credit Developmental Math | Non-credit Review Courses | Credit-bearing MATH course | Credit-bearing MATH course |
| Track 1 | MATH003 ---------> | MATH015 (5 weeks)---> | MATH115 (10 weeks)---> | MATH140 |
| Track 2 | MATH003 ---------> | MATH013 (5 weeks)---> | MATH113 (10 weeks)---> | MATH220 |
| Track 3 | MATH003 ---------> | MATH010 (5 weeks)---> | MATH110 (10 weeks)---> | MATH110 |
| Track 4 | MATH003 ---------> | MATH011 (5 weeks)---> | MATH111 (10 weeks)---> | (no further course on this track) |
Please note that MATH 003, 010, 011, 013, 015 are review courses designed to prepare students for the basic math required here
at the University. Since they are considered review courses, extra charges for the classes do apply,
and no credit towards your degree will be awarded.
